Cookie Dough Campaign Deadlines, Staff Appreciation, March H&S Meeting and Parent Engagement Session

Cookie Dough Campaign

The Cookie Dough campaign closes tomorrow,  Tuesday February 20th. 

To guarantee our delivery date, orders will not be accepted at the school after Tuesday at 4pm. However, the online store at qsp.ca will remain open until Monday February 26th for late orders to be submitted.   

All profits raised from this fundraiser are supporting new gym equipment and teacher classroom needs.  

Staff Appreciation

West Royalty Home and School would like to say a special thank you to all parent volunteers that donated snacks and door prizes this week. 

A gift was given to every teacher at either the staff luncheon or during staff week!

March H&S Meeting and Parent Engagement Session

There has been a date change to the March H&S meeting/Parent Engagement session.

This meeting/session will no longer take place on Tuesday March 6th and has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 13th.  

The Home and School Meeting will take place at 6pm with the Parent Engagement to follow at 7pm.  

The topic for the Parent Session is Cyber Wellness and the impact of technology, especially Social Media on Mental Health. Presented by Tayte Willows from the Canadian Mental Health Association.

This presentation will touch on subject matter such as, what is social media?  The benefits and challenges of the internet?  The effect of the Internet on our mental health and also coping strategies for the Internet as a parent.

Please note that the intended audience for this talk are parents.  It is not recommended that children attend.

 Home and School Executive Member Nominations 

Nominations for the Home and School Executive positions are being accepted.  Deadline for nominations is March 31st, 2018 but floor nominations at the H&S Meeting will be accepted.  

There are vacant positions as a lead or co executive member for all positions including President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  

Anyone who is interested in one of the positions or has any questions about getting involved in the Home and School Committee in any capacity is encouraged to attend the bimonthly meeting on Tuesday March 13th, 2018 at 6:00pm.


  1. You know, our teachers aren't that bad in the first place.

    Sure as I found out when had to type my essay on our education there are some "rotten apples" but overall most teachers self-select because they want to be teachers in the first place.

    Along coes the right-wing privitization model and promotes the idea that most teachers are terrible and we need to monitor them carefully. They also eliminate all the really important variables like parents, socio-economics, crime, health, etc. and use a factory model in which teachers are machines. Then they devise (and profit by) testing regimens.

    I'm not against evaluating teachers, but respect and recognition should preceed (self-serving) "reform."
