SHAPES Survey Results

At our March Home & School Meeting, Melissa Munro-Bernard and Sterling Carruthers presented the results of the  SHAPES-PEI survey, a provincial youth health survey that examines grade 5-12 students’ healthy eating, physical activity, mental fitness, and tobacco/drug use behaviours. During the 2010-11 school year, 94 West Royalty Elementary students took part in this survey along with thousands of other Island youth. In case you missed the meeting, here is the information that was shared:

SHAPES Summary - 4 pages
SHAPES Full Profile - 32 pages

This School Health Profile is intended to help schools, together with students, parents, and other community partners, to:

  • Identify trends in mental fitness, physical activity, healthy eating and tobacco use at your school;
  • Plan actions related to identified issues and potentially apply for a PEI School Health Grant
  • Coordinate these efforts with other groups (family of schools, school board, local health and education organizations, municipalities, businesses, etc.)
